Upper Falls - Amnicon Falls, WI. One of my first test shots with the Sigma 10-20mm and some Cokin ND graduated filters. Note, these filters added some flare to my shots. I did not bother trying to remove or reduce the flare in the images.

Frieda is starting to look more like an adult dog and less like a puppy now. She's very pretty! I bet she still behaves like a puppy, though! I know Tanner still does!

She is gorgeous! I love the sweet expression on her face. What a sweetie!

Half Moon (Roughly) - New Tripod made a big difference (Slik 700DX). Canon 20D, Sigma EX 50-500mm lens & Sigma 2x teleconverter
As impressive as this looks, it doesn't compare to seeing it live. The sky filled with a rainbow of colors that moved accross the sky in ribbons and streams. I wish they would have stayed longer.

Houston, we have "no problem." Another fine moonshot. This shot seems a little clearer with the new tripod, or is it just my imagination?
From: Marty (Fri Nov 7 16:45:44 2008)
Excellent shot. I cannot even approach this with the same kit (i.e. 20d, sigma 50-500mm ex dg, 2x teleconv). I\'m beginning to think my lens is a dud (?)

Conditions need to be just right. Here is what works for me:
1. High moon has least atmospheric distortion
2. Dry air has least distortion
3. Stable tripod
4. Remote shutter or timer
5. Mirror Lockup

Bob, great shots. At least three people have mentioned the lights to me in the last few days. I haven't seen anything like it recently in Iraq, but the pics are great reminders of why Superior is so wonderful. Thanks!

Bob - you are an amazing photographer! I never knew the talent you have! I have enjoyed viewing all of your photos. We have been waiting to see northern lights like this. These are truly awesome!

This is not a bee, but some kind of fly?
From: Administrator (admin) (Tue Nov 20 07:56:37 2007)
Eivindr, you are probably right. My knowledge of Insects is very limited. I'll have to do some research and provide some true classifications. (some day)

Neat photo. Downtown Duluth? I love having these critters around the best place in the world to live.

How do you get so close?
From: Administrator (admin) (Mon Apr 16 17:32:20 2007)
Bill, I have a plum tree about 15 feet away from a window in my house. It's a really convenient blind. Most of my Goldfinch and House finch photos were taken through the same window.

The indigo blue and emerald green are just too much. So is the posing of that colorful Mallard. Great shot!

Awesome! Not quite like the waves of Katrina, but at least the Packers whooped the Saints to pay the Loseranians for how horribly they treated my Cheeseheads in Iraq.
From: Elliott Marshall - Raybowman1@aol.com (Sat Dec 16 22:29:58 2006)
I used to surf many, many moons ago. That looks like one of the nastiest 8-10 footers I have ever seen on a lake. Awesome, mon!
